Linac commissioning as a hiring signal.
Commissioning history is one of the few parts of a physics CV that is difficult to overstate and highly predictive.

Why it predicts well
Commissioning combines measurement discipline, documentation, vendor management and pressure from a live schedule. A physicist who has carried that work end to end has demonstrated the exact behaviours a department relies on during an unplanned problem.
How to read it
Look for the machine and version, the physicist's specific responsibilities, the beam model validation approach, and what was handed over in writing. Vagueness in any of those four is worth a follow-up question rather than an assumption.
- Weight commissioning history heavily for senior and lead posts.
- Ask for machine, scope, validation approach and written handover.
- Treat vague commissioning claims as a question, not a disqualifier.
